AUStism in the Pub - Tues 3 April

In his first ever visit to Sydney, Autism Awareness Australia is delighted to host an evening with Chris Bonnello of - Autistic Not Weird next week in Sydney!  Originally a primary school teacher turned award-winning writer and speaker on the autism spsectrum, Chris now has an army of more than a million readers tuning into his blog to hear his advice and insights on autism, all with his wonderful sense of humour and compassion.

Taking place at Hotel CBD in Sydney, ‘AUStism in the Pub’ will see Chris take audiences on a journey from his childhood as a “weird kid” through to his eventual Asperger’s diagnosis at the age of 25, and how he came to be ‘Captain Quirk’ author of

Emmy-winning, US-based journalists, John Donvan & Caren Zucker, have been collaborating together on autism stories for 18 years however it was their bestselling book, “- In A Different Key: The Story of Autism, that was honoured with a Pulitzer Prize Finalist nod last year.

Their personal connection to autism drives them to inspire acceptance of and support for people on the spectrum by telling their stories with honesty and compassion.

‘AUStism with the Authors’ gives fans of Donvan and Zucker’s brilliant work the opportunity to enjoy a longer, more intimate interview with them, in a relaxed environment where they can ask questions and join the conversation. 

They’ll be talking about how the book came to be, their experience researching and writing it, their upcoming documentary film and what drives their passion for autism awareness.  

A must attend event for anyone wanting to know more about the history of autism and what the future holds for our community.
