NDIS

Positive Behavior Support (PBS) is a person-centered approach used to understand and address challenging behaviors that may be exhibited by individuals with disabilities.

It is about creating individualised strategies for people with disability that are responsive to the person’s needs, in a way that reduces and eliminates the need for the use of regulated restrictive practices.

In the NDIS it is an important framework for supporting Participants with complex needs.

Do you need to be NDIS Registered to deliver PBS?

PBS is delivered by: allied health professionals with specialist skills in positive behaviour support including assessment and the development of a comprehensive plan that aims to reduce and manage behaviours of concern.

In the NDIS, positive behavior support can only be delivered by A\an individual who is:

  1. A registered NDIS Behaviour Support Practitioner
  2. Who works for an NDIS Registered Provider (or who is registered as a sole trader) - because this service is almost always Agency Managed in a Participant's plan.

What Registration Group do I need?

In the NDIS, the registration group is called: 0110 Specialist Positive Behaviour Support [Behaviour Support]

It is a registration group that requires specific professional qualifications and experience as a prerequisite to provide these supports under the NDIS.

This is because it requires specific skills and experience to be safely provided. Professionals who wish to provide specialist disability support must also comply with the Quality and Safeguards requirements of the relevant state/territories.

Important Information:
