The new Aged Care Act: What families and providers need to know
Australia’s new Aged Care Act commenced on 1 November 2025, introducing a rights-based framework that places a legally enforceable Statement of Rights at the centre of aged care. It strengthens provider governance, safety, transparency and accountability, while introducing new registration categories and updated Quality Standards. Support at Home has replaced Home Care Packages, with further rules and transitions continuing through 2026 and CHSP remaining in place until at least July 2027.
