Telehealth may be an option for services to be delivered in Remote and Very Remote areas.
There are 2 ways providers can charge for this:
- At the rate that would be charged if the participant (remote) was at the same location as the provider (not remote).
- At the rate that would be charged if the provider (not remote) was located where the participant resides (remote) - with the participant's agreement
Practitioners without any prior experience of delivering services via telepractice will benefit from access to quality information, consultative support and practical training to build their skills and knowledge in how to maximise the use of technology to their advantage.
Prior to, and in response to COVID, a number of published guidelines were developed outlining the use of technology for delivering allied health services. All of these guidelines included information on technology hardware and software solutions, as well as good practice for setting up the videoconferencing space.
