In the words of Judy the owner and trainer of Ricochet, Kleenex alert!

We stumbled across this story and video and just had to share it in this space: This service dog to SURFice dog story is about what we all want -- to be encouraged to discover who we really are... to be accepted... to find our life purpose... and to be celebrated for being different.

Although Ricochet was a talented trainee in the service dog program, she had to leave the program because of her overwhelming desire to chase birds. Her trainer Judy was devastated but instead focused on what Ricochet was super talented at - surfing! Together they used her skill to connect with people of all ages and to fund raise for children with disabilities.

Her first surf gig was surfing tandem with quadriplegic Patrick Ivison from Delmar, USA.  Judy discovered that when Ricochet was surfing tandem on surfboard with Patrick, she was a different dog. She was totally focused on helping Patrick stay on the board, adjusting her own weight to keep them balanced. Should there be a tumble into the waves, Ricochet would be right there next to him to reassure him.

This video is about the power of being YOUnique, staying true to yourself, adjusting expectations, being empowered, overcoming challenges, looking at obstacles as opportunities, transformation, inter-connectedness, authenticity, and that anything is possible if you follow your heart. Ricochet has connected with millions of people all over the world as she delivers messages of inspiration with no words needed, in a language left unspoken.

As the Canine Ambassador for Surfers with Disabilities℠, she's the only SURFice dog® on the planet who provides therapeutic assistance while creating unique surfing experiences that empower kids with special needs, people with disabilities, wounded warriors & veterans with PTSD.

We are helping Ricochet and Judy 'paw' this forward & share their video that gives encouragement and inspiration to all of us. Join Ricochet on Facebook and Instagram - or visit her website.
