The Provider team at MyCareSpace speak to many NDIS Providers on a daily basis.
They also work closely with the MyCareSpace Connections Team who are helping NDIS Participants and their families find the services they need.
Because of this close interaction with MyCareSpace, the Provider team know exactly what makes NDIS Providers successful.
Here are their top 8 tips for being successful in the NDIS market:
1. Know your service area
You absolutely cannot service everywhere. Don't pretend you can. Also don't think you can always 'find staff to deliver the service' if you get demand in an area. The market moves too quickly for you to spend 2 days looking for staff.
Choose a service area that suits your capability today and then focus on making connections and advertising in that area. You can always expand later as you grow.

2. Don't try and be everything to everyone
Stay in your lane. Stick to what you are good at.
It's a bit like those Fax/Phone/Copy/Scan machines. They are never as good as the individual machines. The same goes for NDIS Providers.
What are you good at? Where do your skills lie? Focus on promoting that and customers will feel your confidence.
3. Act immediately
As I'm sure you know, the NDIS marketplace is highly competitive. Make sure you are on top of your leads and initiate communication immediately, Also make sure that you follow up - you don't need to harrass a client, but consider they are managing their own challenging lives so may not be sitting by the phone waiting for your call!
4. Use multiple methods of communication
A phone call is your first option, BUT make sure you follow up with an SMS if you are unable to get in touch immediately.
SMS makes it easier for the customer to receive information about you and your service and respond when it suits them. This is particularly important for Parents and Carers who literally have their hands full most of the day.
5. Warm Leads
Even if you receive an opportunity to connect with a potential customer and you don't manage to convert it, remember that you have the contact details of a person looking for your services in your area.
Loop back on at least a monthly basis (again, don't harass them) and let them know you have capacity.
6. Join the MyCareSpace Platform
The MyCareSpace platform receives over 115,000 page views a month from people who are ONLY looking for NDIS services and information. Your detailed listing (created by our team) gives you access to a very targeted audience, which means you will receive value for your marketing dollar.
The MyCareSpace Provider team wants to help you find clients (so that you stay on the platform) and so our goals are aligned: They will also provide support in all areas of your NDIS Business: insurance, legal, accounting and HR.

7. You need more than one source of promotion
The adage 'don't put all your eggs in one basket' rings true here. You need a multi-pronged approach. Of course, you need to be on a platform like MyCareSpace.
Get involved with your local council and community events. This is especially important as this is your local service area.
Visit your local NDIS office, and advertise in your local community paper and noticeboard.
8. Make sure that you have your house in order
NDIS Providers need to ensure they have:
- the right service agreements by ensuring you are using a reputable legal service to create them (get affordable legal help)
- the right software that helps you run your business - ask us about rostering and accounting software options
- the right insurance to make sure you are covered if something goes wrong: consider including cyber and business insurance (get an insurance quote)
- the sales and marketing skills needed to promote your business in a measured fashion (see our sales and marketing webinars)
