This letter was written by one of the mum's in our community Randa Habelrih. Randa has asked us to share her letter which she wrote last year "as it states so many of the things I wish I had said from day one of Richards 'school journey."
Randa is now an international advocate for social inclusion and is inspired by her son Richard. Randa is imploring parents to get the message out that everyone is working on the same team and our teachers need resources. Let's see parent power in action.
As we send our children back to school some of Randa's thoughts may resonate with you. When you are frustrated and angry with the way the teacher is dealing with your child, maybe its time to put pen to paper and let the teacher know how you feel or join a movement of parents lobbying government for more resources for teachers.
We hope you take inspiration from Randa's letter and that you are moved to take ACTION for the sake of our children!!
"Dear Teacher, let me help you to help my son with autism. We are on the same team. I get that you have a lot on your plate but let's work together to make this work!".....Please know I have sleepless nights....
Please know I worry about what will happen when I am gone..
Please know I would love to hear about what he CAN do
I am just as puzzled as your are...
He did not sign up for this and neither did I!
You can follow Randa on her closed Facebook Group called Autism Connection on the Spectrum
