Has Social Activities/Day Program
Koorana’s Sibs Club is a group activity and therapeutic support program for children aged 7-12 years who have a sibling with a disability. Children growing up with a sibling with a disability frequently take on carer responsibilities and may have to miss out on age-appropriate experiences due to limited family resources. Sibs Club creates a safe place for children to explore their own interests, have fun experiences, make friends with children in similar circumstances, process the emotions associated with having a sibling with additional needs and negotiate their own place in their families’ lives with increased autonomy and confidence.

The program offers a suite of support services for siblings and parents of a child with additional needs, including:

- weekly group activities delivered by qualified group leaders,
- emotional support,
- excursions and outings,
- an annual inclusive camp experience and,
- creative communication workshops for the entire family.

The aim is of the program is to support participating children by nurturing their individuality, building social connections, validating their emotions and fostering their resilience so they may flourish in family environments that may at times present with a unique set of challenges.

Sibs Club meets weekly in Belmore during the school term. The program is free of charge but additional costs may arise for activities and the annual camp, Please contact our friendly team on 02 8321 9600 to find out more.
