PlayConnect Playgroups
Supporting families with children with autism or similar communication needs
Various Locations across WA
PlayConnect Playgroups are designed for families with a child aged from 0-6 years that has Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or with needs related to Autism Spectrum (ASD), developmental delays in communication and social skills and/or behavioral and sensory issues.
An advantage of this program is that the child does not need a formal ASD diagnosis to join a PlayConnect Playgroup and siblings (0- 6 years) are also welcome to participate.
The aims of the program are to provide play opportunities that are flexible and tailored to the special needs of the children attending each group.
In addition, an important aspect of the program is to build support and social networks between parents and caregivers by ensuring sessions allow parents and carers the time to share stories, advice and information.
PlayConnect playgroups also provide access to quality information about Autism support services and processes.
Like most other playgroups, PlayConnect playgroups meet weekly for around two hours.
No referral is required and the playgroups are free of charge to families.
The program is a great way for families to connect, share knowledge, ideas, and have fun! Parents and caregivers say playgroups are beneficial because they are able to support each other.
PlayConnect playgroups are currently operating in the following WA areas:
- Westminster
- Whitfords
- Forrestfield
- South Lake
While no referral is required it is recommended that you first contact the PlayConnect Coordinator on 1800 171 882 or by email: playconnect@playgroupwa.com.au
