About

Centre for Emotional Health Clinic

The Centre for Emotional Health Clinic (CEHC) is a centre of excellence, aimed at furthering our understanding of emotional disorders and improving methods of treatment. In addition to our research programs, we also offer private psychological treatment to people of all ages. Psychologists use primarily Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in their group or individual programs, which start on a weekly basis.

Cool Kids

The Cool Kids program is a a structured 10 week anxiety management program for kids. The program is based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and it teaches practical skills to both parent and child in individual and group sessions. Current results indicate that most young people who complete our programs show significant improvement. Following treatment, there are marked increases in school attendance, academic achievement, confidence, number of friends and involvement in extra-curricular activities and decreases in worry, shyness, fear and family distress.

In 2016 the Centre for Emotional Health introduced a mandatory training and accreditation process for any professional wishing to run the Cool Kids anxiety program. The purpose of accreditation is to ensure clients participating in the Cool Kids anxiety program are receiving proper treatment and the practitioner demonstrates proper knowledge and practices. To become an accredited provider, a clinician/professional must meet minimum qualifications requirements, complete training and an accreditation process.
