Do you or a loved one live with Asperger’s and need support or information?
Asperger Services Australia started as a small support group for parents of children with Asperger’s and we’ve been helping individuals and families since 1994.
We believe in peer led support and the majority of our staff are volunteers with direct ‘lived’ experience with Asperger’s.
We offer four key ways to help families, including:
Peer Support Groups
Our peer support groups provide a safe and friendly environment to meet others, share stories, form friendships and have fun. They provide a place where you can feel accepted by peers who really understand you.
They also provide an opportunity to learn more about being autistic,
discuss strategies to manage challenges and to celebrate your strengths and successes.
We currently facilitate the following peer support groups:
- Adult Support Groups
- Young Adult Support Groups
- Youth Support Groups
- Parent Support Groups
Life Skills Programs
We’re developing both face to face and online programs to help young people develop the skills and strategies to live independent lives. These programs will focus on increasing their knowledge of problem solving and goal setting strategies.
Our Introductory Life Skills Program has been designed by an experienced Occupational Therapist, Kate Horstmann, specifically for young Autistic people looking to become more self-sufficient in the family home, preparing to move out or making improvements for those already living on their own.
This program teaches skills such as problem solving, goal setting and self-reflection applied across practical areas such as self-care, domestic chores, scheduling or time management, budgeting and community access.

Peer Mentoring
We’re developing a program based on ‘Aspies’ mentoring ‘Aspies’. We’re working with people with ‘lived’ experience to create a program which really reflects the needs of those living with Aspergers.
We also offer Adult Peer Support Groups (face to face)
