Sargood on Collaroy is a resort with accommodation especially designed for people with spinal cord injury, their families and carers. Open to all ages, the resort welcomes people with permanent damage to their spinal cord that is not progressive or palliative. They provide holidays and NDIS short term accommodation with a maximum stay of up to 28 days.
Located on a spectacular headland at Collaroy beach, overlooking Sydney’s beautiful northern beaches peninsula, Sargood is a world-first facility purpose-built for people with SCI.
But the resort offers way more than just accommodation. Sargood have brought together clinical experts as well as adaptive sports experts to offer guests a range of therapies, activities, disciplines and workshops.
Funding for Short Term Accommodation
Sargood on Collaroy is a provider of short term accommodation and assistance under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). Below are more details on how to include short term accommodation into your NDIS Plan.
There are other ways of funding a stay at Sargood on Collaroy through icare. All Lifetime Care participants and Workers Care Program workers living with a spinal cord injury can request support from icare for their stay at Sargood on Collaroy.
So what can you actually do at Sargood apart from working out in their state of the art gym or accessing the beautiful Collaroy beach? They provide a full schedule of workshops, courses, camps and packages for guests throughout the year.

Golf Stay & Play Package Grants
The Sargood Foundation is offering two x three-night Golf & Stay packages for Australian residents living with spinal cord injury. These packages are only available to residents of Australia who live with spinal cord injury (SCI), and preference will be given to applicants that can demonstrate financial hardship
Timing: Grant program launches October 2019, funding awarded February 2020
Dates: Stays to be completed by June 30th 2020.
In addition, Travel assistance up to $500 is also available on application. This is a great opportunity for a guest who enjoys golf and who has no insurance cover in place to enjoy a stay at Sargood, with their partner/friend/carer

How to Access Short Term Accommodation under the NDIS at Sargood
According to the 2019/20 NDIS Price Guide for NSW/VIC/ACT/QLD, Short term accommodation is funded under Core Supprts in the support category Assistance with Daily Life (Including SIL). The description provided is as follows:
"Integrated support for self-care, accommodation, food & activities in a centre or group residence for short periods. Includes all expenses in 24 hour period with no additional loading. May be used for up to 14 consecutive days, then weekly rates apply."
You will need to speak with your Local Area Coordinator or Support Coordinator to discuss what may be covered for you by the NDIS. Remember for a support to be funded it needs to included in your plan and will need to link back to a personal goal included in your plan.
